Your first Ride class at EVO, what to expect

TA, our Head of Ride explains what to expect on your first Ride at EVO. If you’re new to EVO, we recommend you also read our New to EVO page.

When do I need to arrive?

Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your first class so the coach has time to set you up on your bike and let you know what to expect from the class.

What do I need to bring?

You’ll need to bring a bring a bottle of water , we provide small sweat towels on the bikes. There is a communal unisex changing room and lockers for you to use.

Can I ride in trainers, or do I need cycle shoes with cleats?

The pedals have ‘toe cages’ allowing you to ride in trainers. The pedals are also compatible with cycle shoes (MTB-SPD)

Are there towels provided?

Small sweat towels are provided

Can I wear headphones?

No, we want you to be fully emersed in the class and able to hear the instructor properly. Besides, the music we play is all part of the unique EVO experience.

Can I link my session to Strava?

Yes. You can link your Spivi account with Strava via the ‘Account and Settings section’. Make sure your Spivi and Evolution log ins both use the same email address.

How long is the class?

The majority of classes are 45 minutes (Ride 45). However, there are some which are Ride60, Ride75, Ride90 (60/75/90 minutes).

How do I adjust/set up the bike?

If you arrive early to the class, the instructor will set up the bike with you as shown in this video.

What does all the information on the bike computer mean?

The instructor will talk you through the bike computer as shown here.
